To our summer camp churches, ministers, and parents,

As you’ll read in the official announcement below, our leaders have chosen not to host summer camps for children and youth this year at Tall Timbers. It was a very difficult decision to make, but one that I completely support as we all aim to keep your students and your communities safe.

Our staff is heartbroken, as you can imagine, because we look forward to summer camps and serving our churches each year. We see over and over again how God meets people in a personal way on these grounds. Our staff goal for years now has been to work so as to remove distractions. That way, the Word of God can be heard even more clearly as you worship here together.

But even with no summer camps in 2020, we trust in the Lord completely. Each of us will grieve many things in our own time, but as the Apostle Paul wrote, “we do not grieve like those who have no hope.” We believe and know that God will continue to work in the lives of your students through your church.

We will be continuing to work on our facility to make it better for you and we hope to see you again in 2021!

2020 Camp Cancellation-May 15, 2020

Today is a day we were praying we could avoid.

However, following much prayer, discussion, multiple medical consultations and further review of the president’s/governor’s guidelines, we are cancelling all of the Louisiana Baptists sponsored camps at Tall Timbers this summer.

Full refunds will be automatically issued so there is no need to contact the Tall Timbers office.

The decision was based on the realization that we could not safely conduct the camps given the current state of the COVID outbreak. Variables included enough spacing for social distancing, the requirements relating to the wearing of masks, van/bus travel to and from the camp – which would conflict with the current directives, thus possibly spreading the virus to families, churches and communities upon your return.

Our sadness is offset by the fact we know God is bigger than the current pandemic. Since God is the God of opportunities, we are confident that through your ongoing ministries, children/students will still have the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel.

Louisiana Baptists strategists and Tall Timbers staff will follow up in the coming days to answer questions and offer their assistance.

Please know we are deeply saddened to have to make this call but again, are confident God can use all things, including this, for our good and His glory.

May God bless, protect and direct in the days ahead.
