Are you new to Tall Timbers, or is this your first summer camp experience? Here are some helpful tips:
-You must register as a church to come to camp. We do not take individual registrations.
-You must register male and female adult chaperones to come with your campers.
-We don’t need every person’s name when you first register, just the total number of males and females coming to camp to secure your church a spot. As the camp date approaches, we will need names, ages, t-shirt sizes, and details.
-A deposit is required for each camper when you submit registration forms.
-You may choose to stay in cabins or in the Lee Lodge hotel rooms for your lodging. Lee Lodge requires an additional charge with your deposit and is available on a first come, first served basis. Linens and towels are provided in hotel rooms.
-Each camp has its specific forms to submit after registering. Check each one to see if there are deadlines for t-shirt orders, activity placements, etc.
So, what kind of camps are there?
Kids Camp is for children who have completed 2nd grade through completion of 6th grade. A typical day at camp would include pool time, any selection of outdoor Tall Timbers recreation, a specific activity track time of your choice, morning Bible study with your church, and evening worship. You are assigned a color group for your church group, and you follow the camp schedule according to your color. You may share a color group with 1 or 2 other churches.
RA Camp and Girls Mission Camp are mission-focused children’s camps for 1st-6th graders. They are open to all boys and girls, not just those from churches with Royal Ambassador or Girls in Action programs. Both camps feature a missionary or missionary family that campers get to meet personally and learn about their work with other cultures. These camp schedules also divide campers into groups, but are in rotations most of the day. Each group rotates to a craft time, missionary time, and go together to specific recreation activities as a full group.
Clear Camps are our full-week youth camps. They are for 7th-12 graders, and 6th graders are welcome if your church youth ministry includes 6th grade. Youth are in Bible study according to grade. Adults also have their own bible study as well as a room with a coffee bar to themselves for the week! There are large group games on the field in the morning (usually one day with water/messy activities), and their choice of outdoor tournaments or indoor activities in the afternoon. Evenings include worship with the Clear Staff band, a Gospel-centered youth evangelist, church group meeting times, and a late night game. Our Clear Camps have been described as similar to the large Centrifuge camps. They are the same impact and worship-driven camps, but available here in Louisiana!
High Pursuit Camp is also a youth camp for 6th-12 graders. It is led by the same Clear Camp staff as the other youth camps, but is a 2 night camp. It has the same impact of Clear Camp, but condensed into a shorter amount of time. High Pursuit has large group games outdoors, but no sports tournaments. This camp was created as a shorter option for smaller churches with bi-vocational staff who may not be able to take off a full week to come with their students.
